As someone who has always been interested in fashion and has been getting more and more into sports lately, I’ve noticed that the line between activewear and everyday style is becoming increasingly blurred.
I used to choose sneakers based primarily on one question: Are they good for running? Now, I find myself asking another question: Can I actually work them into my everyday wardrobe?
I love the idea of a pair of sneakers that can take me through a run and still work with jeans, wide-leg trousers, or even a tailored suit. To me, truly great sportswear shouldn’t exist only on the track. It should naturally become part of everyday life.
That’s exactly what I’ve been paying attention to while browsing i-Run recently. This time, I picked out three different types of sports essentials, from running shoes to a performance smartwatch. Each one made me rethink the relationship between “sporty” and “stylish.”
01 | PUMA Velocity Nitro 5
When I first saw the PUMA Velocity Nitro 5 on i-Run, it exuded a distinct sense of speed and athletic energy, yet without appearing overly hardcore or difficult to incorporate into everyday outfits.
It features a NITROFOAM cushioning midsole, an engineered mesh upper, and a PUMAGRIP outsole, with an overall focus on everyday road running. For me, that balance between performance and aesthetics is especially appealing.
Design
I like its clean, streamlined sneaker silhouette, as well as the visual impact created by its different colorways. When I wear sneakers, I don’t necessarily want my entire outfit to look like sportswear. Instead, I often prefer to make the sneakers the one distinctly athletic element of the look.
Functionality
The NITROFOAM cushioning makes it feel well suited to everyday runs, while the engineered mesh offers the breathability I look for in a daily running shoe. The PUMAGRIP outsole is designed to provide reliable traction across different surfaces.
I really love the i-Run; it has the feel of lightweight footwear. Whether I’m going for a casual jog of a few kilometers or simply strolling through the city, wearing them feels incredibly natural. They don’t feel like specialized running shoes meant solely for the track; instead, they are the kind of shoes that allow me to seamlessly transition from a workout to my everyday activities.
How I style it
- PUMA Velocity Nitro 5
- Relaxed straight-leg jeans
- Simple white T-shirt
- Tailored blazer
- Small structured shoulder bag
I especially love pairing sneakers with a blazer. To me, that contrast between something formal and something sporty is what makes the look feel particularly stylish.

02 | ASICS GEL-NIMBUS 28
If the previous pair makes me think of an effortless urban athletic aesthetic, the ASICS GEL-NIMBUS 28 feels more focused on comfort and the overall running experience.
When choosing it, I wasn’t really thinking about whether it would be the “coolest” pair of sneakers. What mattered more to me was whether it could keep me comfortable during longer workouts and long days of walking around the city.
Design
I really like the GEL-NIMBUS series available at i-Run. Rather than deliberately pursuing a minimalist aesthetic, it retains the functional look characteristic of professional running shoes. To me, this style aligns perfectly with today’s popular “athleisure” trend—where the sneaker itself becomes an integral part of the outfit, rather than a purely functional item that needs to be hidden away.
Functionality
I see it as a running shoe that places a strong emphasis on comfort.Ultimately, for me, the functionality of a running shoe comes down to a simple question: Can I walk in it for long periods of time, and can I run comfortably in it?
That’s why I pay particular attention to cushioning, underfoot feel, and overall comfort during extended wear.I’ve increasingly come to appreciate shoes that I can put on and simply forget about.
When I’m traveling, shopping, or working on a shoot, I often spend the entire day on my feet. If my shoes constantly remind me that they’re there, I end up feeling more tired. That’s what I like about the direction of the GEL-NIMBUS 28: the sports gear is there to support my lifestyle, rather than requiring me to change my lifestyle around the gear.
How I style it
- ASICS GEL-NIMBUS 28
- Relaxed track pants
- Fitted basic tank top
- Baseball cap
- Minimalist shoulder bag
I like to keep the rest of the outfit simple and let the sneakers become the visual focus.

03 | Garmin EPIX Pro Gen 2 Sapphire Titane
If the first two pieces of gear are athletic essentials that have become staples of my everyday wardrobe, then the Garmin EPIX Pro Gen 2 Sapphire Titanium Edition feels more like an accessory that blends functionality with style.
In the past, my view of sports watches was simple: wear them while working out, take them off when finished. However, seeing this kind of design at i-Run prompted me to rethink that perspective.
Design
I really like the overall feel created by the sapphire crystal and titanium construction. It doesn’t look like a piece of electronic equipment designed solely for sports. Instead, it has something of the character of a precision timepiece.
The AMOLED display also gives it a more refined visual presence. According to the official specifications, the epix Pro (Gen 2) also offers 10 ATM water resistance.
Functionality
When I discovered the Garmin EPIX Pro Gen 2 Sapphire Titane on i-Run, what stood out to me was just how versatile it is. It covers everything from workout training and health and fitness tracking to GPS. For me, the most appealing part isn’t any single feature. It’s the fact that this is a device I can naturally take from my workouts to everyday life and outdoor activities.
I like thinking of it as a small detail within an overall outfit.Sometimes I’ll wear something very simple, like a black knit top, relaxed tailored trousers, and sneakers. The sports watch on my wrist adds just a little more of an urban, functional edge to the look.
What I particularly like is that it doesn’t try to make my outfit look more “sporty.” Instead, it adds a subtle sense of functionality to an otherwise everyday look.
How I style it
- Garmin EPIX Pro Gen 2 Sapphire Titane
- Minimalist knit top
- Relaxed tailored trousers
- Sneakers
- Structured work bag
- Simple metal jewelry
My Sports-Fashion Formula: Functionality Can Be Stylish, Too
After choosing these three pieces, I’ve started to feel more strongly that sportswear can absolutely become part of an everyday wardrobe.
For me, sports and fashion are no longer two completely separate worlds.I can wear running shoes for a run and then wear the same pair to grab coffee. I can use a sports watch to track my workout and still let it function as part of my everyday look.
That’s probably my biggest takeaway from browsing and choosing sports essentials on i-Run lately: I no longer see sports gear as something I only need to wear when I’m exercising. I see it as part of my lifestyle.
After all, to me, truly stylish sportswear isn’t about dressing head-to-toe like an athlete. It’s about finding pieces that naturally fit into my life while still allowing my personal style to come through.Movement can happen on the track, but it can also happen on city streets. And my style can extend far beyond the gym and into everyday life.
